The Dallas Center-Grimes Football team won their home opener Friday night 7-0 over Ballard of Huxley. The defensive battle provided great drama as the only score occurred in the second quarter when sophomore running back Jake Lego punched it in from the 1 yard line. That would prove the game winner as the Mustang defense held Ballard to 172 yards of total offense. Leading the way for the Mustang defense was Blake Willey. The middle linebacker had 9 tackles including 1 tackle for loss. Trenton Liebe added 8 tackles and Jacob Waldron contributed 6 tackles, 1 sack and 3 tackles for loss.
For the Mustang offense, quarterback Ty Walker was efficient going 11/17 for 105 yards. 6 different Mustang receivers made contributions including Caden Grimes' 3 catches for 55 yards.
With the victory the Mustangs are now 2-1 and close the non-district portion of their schedule next Friday night September 20th at Glenwood.
